Nov. 5 2011 Descanso Gardens. 15 x 20 in. Gouache on Illus Board. 2011
Today's Digital Landscape class met during an early morning rainy day. It was a challenge to paint the diffused lighting, but I had a great time. I was thinking about Richard Schmid's landscape paintings, which are mostly gloomy, cloudy days much like this one. Painting the running creek was the most fun! I actually managed to slip and fall into this creek while looking for a place to work, so it seemed like an obligation to record the location of my misfortune in my painting.
