Hamilton "Ham" Porter Reinterpretation

Here's my reinterpretation of Hamilton " Ham" Porter of the Sandlot.......in the 80's.  Our assignment was to take a well known movie or story and reinvent the characters with a twist.  The Sandlot was one of the first movies that came to mind, because the feel-good, nostalgic storyline is really marketable to an audience that enjoys animated movies. I chose the 80's as a stylistic time period because I haven't seen that many current day animated films or character concepts depicted in that time.

Instead of the Sandlot team playing baseball, I wanted to portray their brotherhood as a soapbox car racing team.  This could be a great opportunity to be creative with the styles of soap box cars, whether they be more primitive in design or advanced. As for Ham himself, I wanted to depict him as the team's bark and muscle. This would make him a great candidate as the team's campaign manager or spokesperson of the team, because he's confident, tough, and slightly arrogant.

Break-Time Painting

I almost killed myself trying to learn something on Maya so I took a break to do this sketch of my Aunt's house across the street.

4 Parade Fly-Thru Camera Shots

In a collaborative effort with other students, we all came up with different rough storyboards depicting fly-thru camera shots in a city parade.  We were assigned to pick out 4 different boards from other students to refine and tone on our own.  The drawings above are the ones that I picked... Color versions coming soon.
